Softball Preview: Lawrence Lions vs. Perry-Lecompton Kaws
The Lawrence Lions will face off against the Perry-Lecompton Kaws at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
After dropping their season opener at home, Perry-Lecompton is headed out to face a Lions team ready to give their home crowd a win. Lawrence lost 9-1 to Spring Hill back in April.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Perry-Lecompton and Royal Valley had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Kaws came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 10-6 on Thursday. The game was the first time the Kaws have beaten the Panthers on their field since April 21, 2022.
Olivia Hart spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Macie Corcoran was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Meaa Allen was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Perry-Lecompton lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They are 3-1 when they post two or more home runs.
