Volleyball Game Preview: St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish vs. Mayfield Wildcats

The St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish are taking a road trip to face off against the Mayfield Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

St. Vincent-St. Mary made up a huge gap compared to their last game against St. Charles, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Fighting Irish blew past the Cardinals 3-0 on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Mayfield came tearing into Friday's matchup with five straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Hilltoppers with a sharp 3-0 win.

Mayfield's got stronger as the match went on, holding Chardon to fewer and fewer points set over set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-14, 25-13.

St. Vincent-St. Mary's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Mayfield, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Everything went St. Vincent-St. Mary's way against Mayfield when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as St. Vincent-St. Mary made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Fighting Irish since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
