Basketball Game Preview: Cheney Cardinals vs. Hesston Swathers

The Cheney Cardinals will face off against the Hesston Swathers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, everything went Cheney's way against Chaparral as Cheney made off with an 81-57 win. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Hesston beat Halstead 61-48 on Tuesday. The Swathers haven't had any issues with the Dragons recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Cheney pushed their record up to 13-0-1 with the win, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.9 points over those games. As for Hesston, their victory bumped their record up to 11-1.

Cheney strolled past Hesston in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 by a score of 44-29. Will Cheney repeat their success, or does Hesston have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
