Basketball Preview: Horseshoe Bend Mustangs vs. Council Lumberjacks
Horseshoe Bend is 0-10 against the Lumberjacks since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Horseshoe Bend Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Council Lumberjacks at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Horseshoe Bend had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Tri-Valley by a score of 63-53 on Tuesday.
Horseshoe Bend got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Layth Bromgard out in front who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Bromgard is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaelun Jones, who scored 19 points.
Meanwhile, Council scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They breezed by Salmon River at home to the tune of 73-28. That looming 73-28 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Council yet this season.
The win got Horseshoe Bend back to even at 9-9. As for Council, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-11.
Horseshoe Bend came up short against the Lumberjacks in their previous matchup back in January, falling 56-49. Can Horseshoe Bend avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
