Volleyball Recap: Davis Wins Going Away Against Layton

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Syracuse, Davis was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They blew past the Layton Lancers 3-0. The Darts not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since August 26th (when they won 3-0).

Davis didn't let Layton take a single set, but it sure wasn't easy: every set was decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-23, 25-22.

Mirella Gonzales Carrillo paced Davis' offense, picking up seven kills. Gonzales Carrillo got some help from Kate Donigan and her 16 assists. Claire Shupe controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Davis' victory ended a three-match drought on the road and puts them at 7-12. As for Layton, they dropped their record down to 8-16 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Davis is set to take on their familiar foe Weber at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Layton will face off against rival Syracuse at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
