The Hilton Head Christian Academy Eagles will square off against the Ben Lippen Falcons at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Hilton Head Christian Academy will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
While Hilton Head Christian Academy's win against John Paul II wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Golden Warrriors on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted against the Golden Warrriors since April 25, 2022.
Chip Hetzel was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Hetzel was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Slaide Burd, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jackson Richardson, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, Ben Lippen entered their tilt with Irmo on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Yellow Jackets 12-4. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by eight runs or more this season.
Like Hilton Head Christian Academy, Ben Lippen also got a great game from a two-way player: Matthew Bishop. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Bishop has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Sean Lee was a standout: he fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Ty Fajardo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.
Ben Lippen lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Hilton Head Christian Academy's record is now 15-6. As for Ben Lippen, their record now sits at 8-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Hilton Head Christian Academy hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Ben Lippen struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.5 home runs.
