Baseball Game Preview: Hidden Valley Mustangs vs. Henley Hornets

For the second straight game, Hidden Valley will face off against Henley. The Mustangs will challenge the Hornets at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hidden Valley is on an eight-game streak of home wins, Henley a six-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.

Hidden Valley is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Saturday, they were much more limited against Henley on Wednesday. They fell 7-2 to the Hornets. The Mustangs have struggled against the Hornets recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.

For Henley's part, Mark Carpenter made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off nine hits. Carpenter has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Conner Shively was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played.

Henley's win bumped their record up to 14-2-1. As for Hidden Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.
