Grassfield has gone 8-2 against Deep Creek recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Grizzlies will venture away from home to square off against the Hornets at 5:45 p.m. The last three games Grassfield has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Grassfield took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Oscar Smith 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Grizzlies have posted since March 28th.

Grassfield got a great performance from Logan Shaw as he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Shaw has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Jameson Dick and Ayden Farris did most of the damage at the plate: Dick went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Farris got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs Farris has posted over his last eight matches.
Meanwhile, Deep Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They lost 28-13 to Nansemond River. On the bright side, the 13- run effort marked the Hornets' highest-scoring game to date.
Jagger Locking made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Tristin Mosley, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Grassfield's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Deep Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 1-15.
Grassfield's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's contest. The Grizzlies have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Deep Creek, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Grassfield continue to outrun the ball?
Grassfield came out on top in a nail-biter against Deep Creek in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 6-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Grizzlies since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
