Baseball Recap: Islip Takes a Loss

Islip and Rocky Point pushed the score to 18-2 the last time they played Rocky Point, but on Friday defenses reigned supreme. The Buccaneers fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 1-0. Having soared to a lofty 18 runs in the game before, the Buccaneers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Alex Rahner was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched.

Islip has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. As for Rocky Point, they pushed their record up to 8-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Islip will face off against rival Mount Sinai at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Buccaneers 2.4, the Mustangs 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Rocky Point is set to take on their familiar foe Shoreham-Wading River at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
