Alexandria's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They walked away with a 13-8 victory over the Barbe Buccaneers. The high-scoring effort was just what the Trojans needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Ella Melder made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sarah Grace Buckels, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Amiyah Wilson was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

Alexandria has been performing well recently as they've won 14 of their last 17 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Barbe, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-12.

Alexandria and Barbe should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings. The Trojans (ranked fifth) will meet West Monroe (ranked 41st) at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Barbe will square off against Lake Charles College Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (87 vs. 320).
