Basketball Recap: Craig Piles Up the Points Against Non Varsity Tournament Opponent

On Friday, the Craig Panthers really took it to Non Varsity Tournament Opponent for the full four quarters, racking up a 67-36 win. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 27 points or more this season.

Leading Craig to victory were Sara Steffen and Ashlynn Smith. Steffen dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds, while Smith almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine assists. With that strong performance, Steffen is now averaging an impressive 15.5 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Abigail Patten, who posted seven points and five boards.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Craig was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Craig's victory bumped their record up to 9-2.

Craig has already played their next match (against Klawock), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Non Varsity Tournament Opponent will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Rochester School for the Deaf on February 7th.
