Football Recap: Orland Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Orland dropped to 4-2 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Gridley Bulldogs by a score of 29-26. Despite 158 more yards than the Bulldogs, the Trojans couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Despite the loss, Orland still got an impressive performance from Luke Schager, who rushed for 149 yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 91 yards and one TD. Schager's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 149 rushing yards.

Even if they lost, Orland's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Dominic Gonzalez refused to say out of the backfield, picking up a sack all by himself.

As for Gridley, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.3 points on average this season.

Gridley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Eli Punzo, who rushed for 125 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries. Punzo's longest rush was for an impressive 52 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Marcus Duncan was another key player, rushing for 41 yards and one TD.
