Basketball Game Preview: Waterloo East Trojans vs. Charles City Comets

After both having extra time off, the Waterloo East Trojans and the Charles City Comets will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 7:45 p.m. on Monday.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 59-27, which was the final score in Waterloo East's tilt against Ames back in December of 2024. The loss continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Little Cyclones: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, the stars were shining brightly for Charles City in a 65-51 victory over Waukon two weeks ago. The match marked the Comets' most dominant win of the season so far.

Charles City is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. As for Waterloo East, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Waterloo East ended up a good deal behind Charles City when the teams last played back in January of 2024, losing 74-60. Can Waterloo East avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
