Basketball Recap: Wakefield Sets Scoring Season-High Against Peabody-Burns

Wakefield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 28th straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 58-47 to the Peabody-Burns Warriors. One positive for the Bombers, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

When it comes to explaining why Wakefield lost, don't look at Kingsley Smith. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 boards. Smith continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bradyn Moenning, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 12 points and five rebounds.

Leading Peabody-Burns to victory were Jameson Miles and Aiden Hurst. Miles dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 boards, while Hurst went 5 of 12 en route to 18 points and seven rebounds. Miles' evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Chris Spencer, who posted eight points and three steals.

Wakefield's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Peabody-Burns, their win ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-5.

Wakefield will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Blue Valley on January 28th. As for Peabody-Burns, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 75-27 defeat against Little River on the 18th.
