Basketball Recap: Caden Powers' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Eastern Hancock over Lapel

Eastern Hancock lost against Lapel back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Eastern Hancock Royals fell 60-53 to the Lapel Bulldogs. The Royals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Royals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Caden Powers, who posted 16 points and five boards. Kayden Ruble was another key player, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lapel to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brode B Judge, who earned 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinn Wilkins, who put up 12 points along with seven assists and six boards.

Eastern Hancock's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Lapel, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-5.

Eastern Hancock wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 58-49 win against Triton Central on the 1st. As for Lapel, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 66-51 victory against Oak Hill on the 1st.
