Baseball Recap: River Valley Takes a Loss

River Valley extended their losing streak to 18 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 2-20 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Del Campo Cougars. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Falcons have suffered since March 15, 2024.

ETHAN RIVERA was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of KRISH GANDHI, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run.

As for Del Campo, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-12-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

On Del Campo's side, Brody Bieneman made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Bieneman was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Del Campo's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 7-12-1 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Ramiro Pereda was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Skyler Maynor, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

While River Valley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
