Preview: Cabot Panthers vs. Bryant Hornets
Cabot and Bryant are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2018, but not for long. The Cabot Panthers will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Bryant Hornets at 7:30 p.m. Cabot will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arkansas Rankings (they are ranked 51st, while Bryant is ranked second).
Cabot fought the good fight in their overtime game against Little Rock Southwest on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 68-67 to the Gryphons. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Meanwhile, Bryant waltzed into their game on Tuesday with 22 straight wins but they left with 23. They had just enough and edged Central out 52-50. That's two games straight that Bryant has won by exactly two points.
Bryant's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Camarion Bead, who scored 14 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Bead is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Trent Ford was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five assists and two steals.
Cabot has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season. As for Bryant, they pushed their record up to 23-2 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home.
Cabot strolled past Bryant in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a score of 63-47. Does Cabot have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bryant turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
