Softball Recap: Bernards Comes Up Short

Bernards was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 9-5 to the Franklin Warriors. The Mountaineers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Mia Bong and Brooke Helpinstill stepped up to the plate in a big way. Bong went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base and one double, while Helpinstill scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Christina DePierro, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Bernards' loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Franklin, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

While Bernards had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
