It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Champion ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Howland Tigers. The victory was familiar territory for the Golden Flashes, who have now won 11 contests in a row.

Adalyn McIntosh was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over nine innings while giving up five earned runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jonna Strock was excellent, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Another player making a difference was Maddison Sylvester, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Champion's record now sits at 14-4. As for Howland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-6.

Champion wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 12-1 win against Garfield on the 8th. As for Howland, they have also already played their next matchup, a 7-0 loss against Boardman on the 11th.
