The Princeton Tigers will venture away from home to take on the Southridge Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Princeton has given up an average of 32.6 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Princeton is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 33 points last Friday, they were much more limited against Boonville on Friday. They were outmatched by the Pioneers and fell 34-6. The matchup marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Princeton might have lost, but man, Karwin Pope was a machine: he rushed for 225 yards while picking up 9.0 yards per carry.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southridge). They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 63-14 win over Tell City. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Raiders had established a 42-point advantage.
Princeton better keep an eye on Zack Russell. He was instrumental in Southridge's win, rushing for 75 yards on only five carries, while also catching one TD. Sam Gasser got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Southridge, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Justin Leathers, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Southridge didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Gasser and Alex Hendrix. Gasser got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
The victory made it two in a row for Southridge and bumps their season record up to 3-4. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 20 points in those games. As for Princeton, they dropped their record down to 3-4 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.
