Volleyball Recap: Esteban Mendoza and Caden Perez-Pantoja Secure Win for West Port

If Lake Weir wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played West Port, they should've done a better job of containing Luis Monserat. West Port narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Lake Weir 3-2 thanks in part to Monserat, who had 23 digs and five aces. Monserat is crushing it when it comes to digs: he's had at least 17 every time he's taken the court this season.

West Port was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-20, 23-25, 25-20, 15-13.

West Port was led to victory by Caden Perez-Pantoja and Esteban Mendoza. Perez-Pantoja had ten digs, while Mendoza had four digs. Those ten digs gave Perez-Pantoja a new career-high.

West Port's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. As for Lake Weir, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Coming up, West Port will square off against Forest at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lake Weir, they will take on Vanguard at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Lake Weir is facing Vanguard at the right time seeing as Vanguard is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
