Basketball Recap: Box Elder Bears vs. Turner Tornadoes
The Box Elder Bears were the 46-38 winner over the Turner Tornadoes when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Box Elder took a 48-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tornadoes on Friday.
Despite the loss, Box Elder had strong showings from Martay Stiffarm-rosette, who scored 12 points along with four steals, and Ariel Gopher, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 34.3% of Box Elder's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shareece Raining Bird, who scored four points along with eight rebounds.
Box Elder's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Turner, their win bumped their record up to 3-8.
Box Elder will be playing at home against the Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Chester-Joplin-Inverness will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. As for Turner, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the on February 3rd.
