Basketball Recap: Classical Takes a Loss

Classical lost against South Kingstown back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Classical Purple fell 54-47 to the South Kingstown Rebels. The Purple's loss continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

It was another big night for Abbie O'Rourke, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds for South Kingstown. O'Rourke is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Makenzie Ribeiro was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten boards.

Classical's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for South Kingstown, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-11.

Classical will take on St. Mary Academy-Bay View at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for South Kingstown, they will challenge West Warwick at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. South Kingstown has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
