Baseball Game Preview: Nucla Mustangs vs. Dolores Bears

For the first time this season, Nucla will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out on the road to challenge the Dolores Bears at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dolores took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Nucla, who comes in off a win.

Nucla is headed into the match having just posted their closest victory since April 20, 2024 last Saturday. They skirted past Rangely 4-2.

Brycen Rummel made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. Those 16 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Dolores was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 13-2 to Valencia.

Dolores' defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Nucla, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Nucla came out on top in a nail-biter against Dolores when the teams last played back in April of 2019, sneaking past 10-9. Does Nucla have another victory up their sleeve, or will Dolores turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
