Cowan and Frankton are an even 3-3 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Blackhawks will welcome the Eagles at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Cowan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Cowan is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Wapahani on Thursday. They came up short against the Raiders, falling 11-1.
Cowan saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Thomas Brooks, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Frankton got the win against Elwood on Thursday by a conclusive 16-6. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Hunter Ulery spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Frankton is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 2-4 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Caine Oakley was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Frankton: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least one home run, but 3-4 otherwise. Riley Inglis was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Frankton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Cowan's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Frankton, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Cowan came out on top in a nail-biter against Frankton when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 6-5. Will the Blackhawks repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
