Basketball Recap: Avon Comes Up Short

Avon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 60-56 heartbreaker at the hands of the Bloomington South Panthers. The match was a 24-24 toss-up at halftime, but the Orioles couldn't quite close it out.

When it comes to explaining why Avon lost, don't look at Aniah Smith. Despite the final result, she posted 16 points in addition to eight steals and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylii Williams, who earned ten points.

Avon's defeat dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Bloomington South, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-2 record this season.

Both are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Avon has already played their next game (against Ben Davis), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Bloomington South will take on Terre Haute North Vigo at 6:00 p.m. on February 7th.
