The Pittsburg Pirates will challenge the Tesoro Titans at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pittsburg is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

Last Monday, Pittsburg was able to grind out a solid victory over Mt. Eden, taking the game 6-1. The win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Monarchs: they've now won three in a row.

Santino Valle made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on JJ Robinson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Ty Thompson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.

Pittsburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. The last time their batting average was this high was back in February.

Meanwhile, Tesoro lost 7-1 to Castro Valley on Wednesday. The Titans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Pittsburg's victory bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Tesoro, their loss dropped their record down to 3-13.

Pittsburg couldn't quite finish off Tesoro when the teams last played back in April of 2023 and fell 3-1. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
