Softball Game Preview: Lugoff-Elgin Demons vs. Spring Valley Vikings

Lugoff-Elgin is a perfect 8-0 against Spring Valley since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Demons will host the Vikings at 7:00 p.m.

On Tuesday, Lugoff-Elgin made easy work of Spring Valley and carried off an 11-1 victory. The Demons haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Cassie Merriweather tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kayley Lynch, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Brown, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Spring Valley is on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-18. As for Lugoff-Elgin, their victory bumped their record up to 9-12.
