Peru suffers fourth straight loss on the road

Recap: Peru Nighthawks vs. Boquet Valley Griffins

After flying high against the AuSable Valley Patriots last Thursday, the Peru Nighthawks came back down to earth. Peru took a 59-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Boquet Valley on Monday. While losing is never fun, Peru can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 687th, while Boquet Valley is ranked 256th).

Boquet Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maddox Rice led the charge by dropping a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rice has scored all season. Jackson Hooper was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds.

Peru bumped their record down to 2-10 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Boquet Valley, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-1.

Peru will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Northern Adirondack at 7:00 p.m. As for Boquet Valley, they will head out on the road to challenge Ticonderoga at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Ticonderoga is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
