Baseball Game Preview: Carrollwood Day Patriots vs. Tampa Prep Terrapins

The Carrollwood Day Patriots will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Tampa Prep Terrapins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Thursday, Carrollwood Day beat Indian Rocks Christian 6-1.

Carrollwood Day got a great performance from Gabe Troya as he didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out six over 5.1 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Troya has posted since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Carrollwood Day saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Julian Earle, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs Earle has posted since back in April of 2024. Richie Kemner was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Tampa Prep gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They blew past Cambridge Christian 10-2. The win continues a trend for the Terrapins in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won three in a row.

Koy Fogg looked comfortable as he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Will Futch was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Akins, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Carrollwood Day was able to grind out a solid victory over Tampa Prep in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 6-2. Will Carrollwood Day repeat their success, or does Tampa Prep have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
