Baseball Game Preview: Sports Leadership & Management Spartans vs. IMG Academy Blue Ascenders

The Sports Leadership & Management Spartans will venture away from home to challenge the IMG Academy Blue Ascenders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sports Leadership & Management has given up an average of 8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Sports Leadership & Management is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They fell just short of Shorecrest Prep by a score of 15-14 on Tuesday. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Chargers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Andrew Bunner made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Alex Duncan also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Even though they lost, Sports Leadership & Management kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.7 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 9.4.

Meanwhile, IMG Academy Blue was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 11-6 to Inspiration Academy.

IMG Academy Blue also got a good showing from Henry Melmed, who tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Melmed has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Charles Chenail was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-1. Brennan Prendergast was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Sports Leadership & Management's record now sits at 2-9. As for IMG Academy Blue, their record is now 5-5.
