Basketball Recap: Florence Takes a Loss

Florence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a blow against the St. Mary's Pirates, falling 83-43. The Huskies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Leading St. Mary's to victory were Jeremiah Starr and Kisean Dawson. Starr went 7 for 10 on his way to 23 points, while Dawson went 7 of 10 en route to 15 points along with seven boards and five assists. Another player making a difference was Gunner Lyon, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 15 points.

Florence's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for St. Mary's, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-5.

Florence has already played their next matchup (against Custer County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. St. Mary's will challenge The Vanguard School at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Mary's is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63 points per game this season.
