Basketball Recap: Heritage Hills Falls Despite Big Games from Peyton Gray and Tait Wetzel

Heritage Hills was the 57-52 winner over Washington when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Heritage Hills Patriots fell just short of the Washington Hatchets by a score of 59-56 on Tuesday.

Despite the defeat, Heritage Hills had strong showings from Tait Wetzel, who went 5-for-9 to rack up 14 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals, and Peyton Gray, who went 7-for-14 en route to 16 points and five boards. The dominant performance gave Wetzel a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Colten Hopf, who posted seven points.

Even though they lost, Heritage Hills smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Heritage Hills' loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Washington, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Heritage Hills will challenge Forest Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Washington, they will square off against Evansville Central at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
