Basketball Recap: Dakota Ridge Starts Season with Victory Against Thomas Jefferson

Dakota Ridge gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They took their game with ease, bagging an 86-54 win over the Thomas Jefferson Spartans. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered a 69-59 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Nathan Esau had an outrageously good game as he went 10 of 12 on his way to 26 points along with seven boards and five steals. Those seven boards gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Berninger, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 20 points in addition to five boards and five steals.

Loss or not, Thomas Jefferson got some senior leadership from Shane Curry and Vanson Wells. Curry went 8 for 14 on his way to 26 points, while Wells posted ten points. Marwell Abram was another key player, putting up six points and six rebounds.

Dakota Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 76-57 defeat against Fort Bend Travis on the 5th. As for Thomas Jefferson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 85-40 loss against George Washington on the 5th.
