Basketball Recap: Century Takes a Loss

Century lost against Mayo back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Century Panthers fell 66-55 to the Mayo Spartans. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 243rd, while the Spartans are ranked 27th).

Century's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-22. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points over those games. As for Mayo, they are on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season.

Coming up, Century will face off against Mankato West at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mayo, they will challenge John Marshall at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
