Soccer Game Preview: La Vernia vs. San Antonio Memorial

La Vernia has gone a perfect 6-0 against San Antonio Memorial recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The La Vernia Bears are taking a road trip to take on the San Antonio Memorial Minutemen at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (La Vernia has 15 straight victories, San Antonio Memorial has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

La Vernia's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Luling 8-0. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matches by three goals or more this season.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for San Antonio Memorial's offense. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gonzales on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Minutemen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 688th, while the Apaches are ranked 269th).

La Vernia's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 58 goals over those nine contests. As for San Antonio Memorial, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.

Everything went La Vernia's way against San Antonio Memorial in their previous meeting back in February, as La Vernia made off with an 8-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for La Vernia since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
