Baseball Game Preview: Winston County Yellowjackets vs. Sumiton Christian Eagles

The Winston County Yellowjackets will square off against the Sumiton Christian Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Winston County has given up an average of 9.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Winston County and Lynn had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. Winston County lost 12-4 to Lynn on Saturday. Yellowjackets fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Bears since on Saturday.

Winston County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Garrett Lewis, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Sumiton Christian had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Blue Devils as they made off with an 11-5 win.

Sumiton Christian pushed their record up to 13-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Winston County, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.
