It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Grand Island ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They won by a run and slipped past the Elkhorn North Wolves 6-5. The win was familiar territory for the Islanders, who have now won four games in a row.

The team relied heavily on Sam Schroeder, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Brody Davidson also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Grand Island pushed their record up to 17-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.33 runs across that stretch. As for Elkhorn North, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-10.

Coincidentally, Grand Island and Elkhorn North will both be playing Gretna East the next time they take the field. The Islanders will head out to face the Griffins at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Wolves will play them later in the day, at 3:00 p.m.
