Baseball Game Preview: Fairview Eagles vs. Chesapeake Panthers

The Fairview Eagles will head out to square off against the Chesapeake Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Chesapeake took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Fairview, who comes in off a win.

Fairview took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Russell, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Red Devils 4-3 on Thursday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 14, 2019, but that streak is no more.

Meanwhile, Chesapeake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of South Gallia. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Panthers have suffered since May 10, 2024.

Chesapeake saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joe Cremeans, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Fairview pushed their record up to 11-12 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Chesapeake, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-19.

Fairview came out on top in a nail-biter against Chesapeake in their previous matchup back in April, sneaking past 13-12. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
