Softball Game Preview: Lake-Lehman Knights vs. Valley View Cougars

The Lake-Lehman Knights will venture away from home to square off against the Valley View Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Lake-Lehman 2.2, Valley View 1.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Lake-Lehman is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Council Rock South just ended the team's 12-game winning streak on Monday. They lost 10-0 to the Golden Hawks. The game marked the first time this season in which the Knights were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Valley View had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Monday. They never let the Warriors get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. Considering the Cougars have won 16 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Delaware Valley's batters probably weren't too happy with Taylor Cawley, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 14 Ks (she gave up zero walks). Cawley has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 17 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kalli Karwowski was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two triples, and three runs. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Zoie Krupovich, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Valley View kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 14 consecutive matchups.

Valley View pushed their record up to 17-2-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lake-Lehman, their loss dropped their record down to 17-2.
