Softball Preview: Goochland Bulldogs vs. Albemarle Patriots

The Goochland Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Albemarle Patriots at 6:30 p.m. Goochland is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Goochland will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Charlottesville on Tuesday. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Black Knights with a sharp 19-2 victory. Avery Newman made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four). She was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
In other batting news, Goochland got a massive performance out of Kyndall Shapiro, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs Shapiro has posted since back in March. Ryleigh Shapiro was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Goochland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Albemarle's offense. They lost 10-0 to Fluvanna County on Tuesday.
Goochland's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Albemarle, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.
