Softball Recap: Camarillo Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Camarillo proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by ten) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Moorpark Musketeers, sneaking past 7-6. The victory was nothing new for the Scorpions as they're now sitting on four straight.

Camarillo got a big performance out of Laynee Flores, who went 2-for-4 with one home run. Alianna Rodriguez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Camarillo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive games.

Camarillo pushed their record up to 17-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Moorpark, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-5.

Camarillo and Moorpark should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Scorpions (ranked 15th) will meet Rio Mesa (ranked 206th) at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Camarillo 3.4, the Spartans 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Moorpark will take on Hart at 3:30 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (101 vs. 530).
