Baseball Recap: Granby Comes Up Short

Granby had lost four straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 2-9 to make it five. They fell 5-2 to the Palmer Panthers. The game snapped a strange streak: the last three times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Anthony Santiago made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

On Palmer's side, Sebastian Mayberry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. Mayberry has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Luke Haley, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Holbrook, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Looking ahead, Granby will challenge Mahar Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Palmer, they will take on Smith Vo-Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
