Recap: Academy of the New Church Lions vs. Friends' Central

There's no place like home for the Academy of the New Church Lions, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They came out on top against Friends' Central by a score of 64-51 on Wednesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Academy of the New Church also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Academy of the New Church to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ryan Warren, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Dior Carter, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Academy of the New Church pushed their record up to 10-3 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Friends' Central, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-3.

Academy of the New Church won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Hun at 5:30 p.m. on January 11th. One thing working in Hun's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six games. As for Friends' Central, they will be playing at home against George School at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. George School will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 180th, while Friends' Central is ranked 23rd).
