Football Recap: Luke Schartz's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Oak Grove over Knob Noster

Oak Grove was the 51-15 winner over Knob Noster when they last played one another back in October of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. Oak Grove lost 35-13 to Knob Noster on Friday.

Oak Grove's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luke Schartz, who threw for 142 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Oak Grove didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Mason Rogers and Paul Parks. Oak Grove got some further help from Elliott Atwell: he made 11 total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Knob Noster's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Conner Morris, who rushed for 94 yards and two TDs.

Oak Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Knob Noster, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oak Grove will host Pleasant Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Panthers' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Knob Noster, they will welcome St. Pius X at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
