Baseball Recap: Pickens Academy Comes Up Short

If Pickens Academy was feeling good fresh off their 17-5 takedown of Aliceville on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pickens Academy Pirates fell 10-5 to the University Charter Trail Blazers on Tuesday. The Pirates were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Trail Blazers earlier this season, when they won 12-4.

Pickens Academy saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hudson Pennington, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Another was Braden Banks, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Pickens Academy's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-7. As for University Charter, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pickens Academy will welcome Aliceville at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Aliceville has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.67 runs per game on average), something Pickens Academy will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for University Charter, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Keith at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
