Basketball Recap: Harding County Starts off Right with Win over Lead-Deadwood

Harding County had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They managed a 64-60 win over the Lead-Deadwood Golddiggers. The Ranchers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Golddiggers, too.

Leading Harding County to victory were Evan Meyer and Cohen Smith. Meyer went 5 of 11 en route to 12 points along with six boards and four steals, while Smith went 7 of 15 on his way to 17 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Casey Lindholm, who posted 12 points.

Harding County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in eight consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harding County and Sundance will compete for holiday cheer at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lead-Deadwood, they will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against Newell at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
