Football Recap: Syracuse Starts off Right with Win over Woods Cross

Syracuse took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They walked away with a 37-24 win over the Woods Cross Wildcats.

Syracuse's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ledger Wight led the charge by rushing for 52 yards and two scores on only seven carries, while also throwing for 176 yards on 11 of 18 attempts. Those two rushing touchdowns gave Wight a new career-high. Tanner Merrill did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 102 receiving yards.

Woods Cross lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Viliami Tapa'Atoutai, who rushed for 123 yards and one TD.

Syracuse wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 37-12 victory against Roy on the 22nd. As for Woods Cross, they have also already played their next matchup, a 35-23 win against Cedar Valley on the 22nd.
