Football Recap: Jacksonville Takes a Loss

Friday just wasn't the day for Jacksonville's offense. They had to suffer through a 27-0 loss at the hands of the St. Clair County Fighting Saints. Having soared to a lofty 34 points in the game before, the Golden Eagles' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Even if they lost, Jacksonville's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. In that department, Bryce Allen was the leader with two. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made seven or more in each of the last 20 games he's played dating back to last season.

Jacksonville's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for St. Clair County, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jacksonville will face off against Anniston at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Eagles will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least 31 points in their last three contests. As for St. Clair County, they will challenge Ashville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Fighting Saints will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28.67 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
