Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Pendleton Heights

Pendleton Heights came tearing into Thursday's matchup with three straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Mt. Vernon Marauders. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-5 on Thursday.

Brody Stevenson looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Colin Axel-Adams and Ryland Montgomery did most of the damage at the plate: Axel-Adams went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Montgomery went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Montgomery has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooks Bond, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Pendleton Heights' record now sits at 9-4. As for Mt. Vernon, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.

Pendleton Heights will head out to face off against Lapel at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.54 runs per game on average), something the Arabians will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Mt. Vernon, they will host Richmond at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Marauders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Red Devils have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
